Floor plan software that measures as you draw

Squaremetry is floor plan software in your browser. You draw the walls, and every room gets its square footage under ANSI Z765 on the plan, with the reason when a space does not count. The same plan is a 3D model. Start free, without an account.

What makes it different

A floor plan maker that knows the rules

Most floor plan creators give you a drawing. Squaremetry gives you a drawing and numbers you can defend.

  • Square footage on the plan

Every room shows its area under ANSI Z765, and the plan says why a stair opening or a low ceiling does not count. Finished, unfinished, above and below grade stay apart.

  • 2D and 3D from one plan

Draw once. Walk through the same model in 3D, with doors, windows and furniture. Change a wall and both views follow.

  • AI from a sketch or a photo

Upload a hand sketch, a photo of a plan or a PDF. You get a proposal with real walls you can edit, measured like everything else.

  • Exports that stay true

PNG, PDF to scale, SVG and DXF; the 3D model as GLB or USDZ for AR. What you see in the editor is what you export.

  • MCP for AI assistants

Connect Squaremetry to your AI assistant: it can measure rooms by the standard and open them in the editor.

  • No credits, ever

Pay per home ($5) or take Pro. Drawing, measuring and looking in 3D stay free.

Questions

Questions about our floor plan software

Short answers. The editor itself shows the rest.

What is the best floor plan software for square footage?

Software that measures by a standard instead of adding up rectangles. Squaremetry applies ANSI Z765 to every room and shows why a space counts or not, so the number matches what an appraiser looks for.

Is there free floor plan software?

Yes. In Squaremetry, drawing, measuring and looking in 3D are free and need no account. You pay only when you want a home unlocked for clean exports, or Pro.

What is the difference between a floor plan maker and floor plan software?

The words are used for the same thing. A floor plan maker or floor plan creator usually means a quick drawing tool; floor plan software also keeps levels, exports and the numbers. Squaremetry does both in one place.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Squaremetry runs in a modern browser on a computer or tablet. Your plan stays in the browser until you save it to an account or share it.

Do you sell credits?

No. You pay per home ($5), per home with the measurement report ($7.50), or for Pro ($24 a month). Nothing runs out halfway through a plan.

Can it make a floor plan from a photo or sketch?

Yes. Upload a photo of a plan, a hand sketch or a PDF and you get a proposal with real walls. Check it, fix what is off, and it is measured like a plan you drew yourself.
