Centimeters to feet and inches: in short

Divide the centimeters by 30.48 to get feet; the part after the decimal point times 12 gives the inches. 180 cm is 5′ 10⅞″ (5.906 ft), and 400 cm is 13′ 1½″.

Step by step

123456789101112 51015202530 inches (⅛″ marks) cm · 12″ = 30.48 cm
  1. Divide the centimeters by 2.54. That gives the total in inches: 180 cm ÷ 2.54 = 70.87 in.
  2. Divide the inches by 12. The whole number is the feet: 70.87 ÷ 12 = 5, with 10.87 inches left.
  3. Round the inches to the nearest 1/8 inch, the smallest mark on most US tape measures.
  4. Write it as feet and inches: 5′ 10⅞″.

Room sizes from centimeters

The floor area is measured inside the walls, the way you measure a room with a tape. Draw this room opens the same room in the editor, with the same area.

Why round to 1/8 inch

An eighth of an inch is about 3 mm. Rounding finer than that gives digits nobody can mark on a board or read off a tape. For a height, the nearest inch is enough; for a cut, use the eighths.

Questions

Cm to feet: questions

About centimeters to feet and inches. Can’t find your answer? Send us a message.

How tall is 180 cm in feet?

5′ 10⅞″, or 5.906 ft.

How many feet is 100 cm?

100 cm, one meter, is 3.281 ft: 3′ 3⅜″ on a tape measure.

Why is my answer off by a fraction?

Rounding. Some converters round the inches to whole numbers or to one decimal. We round to the nearest 1/8 inch, the way a tape measure reads, and show the decimal feet next to it.

How much does it cost?

Drawing and every area are free, and your first home is free for 30 days. After that: $5 per home for 30 days, or Pro for $24 a month or $179 a year, with 15 new homes a month.

Do I need an account?

No. You can draw and see every area without one; your plan stays in this browser. Sign in when you want to keep a home in your account or share it.

Can I export my floor plan?

Yes, as PNG, SVG or a PDF to scale, and as a square footage report with the rooms and the rule behind each number. Free is a small PNG with a watermark; the full files come with an unlocked home or Pro, and your first home is free.

Does a garage count as square footage?

Not in the gross living area. A garage is not finished living space, so ANSI Z765 reports it separately, like a porch or a deck.

Can I measure in square meters?

Yes. Switch the units to meters and every length and area follows. Type 4.2 x 3.5 or 420 x 350 cm.
